The purpose of processing personal data is as follows: registration of participants, assessment of compliance with project requirements, drawing up invitations to apply for visas, provision of accommodation services, informing about changes in the course of events and reflecting the course of events on the University’s website, social networks, and other communication channels, using photo, audio and video materials to cover events.

Article 6 Clause 1  paragraph f of the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation) processing if such is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by the controller or by a third party, except where such interests are overridden by the interests or fundamental rights and freedoms of the data subject which require protection of personal data, in particular where the data subject is a child.

The University’s legitimate interest in processing personal data is to select the applicants who best meet the project requirements in the selection of summer school participants, as well as to inform the public about the activities of the University.

If the applicant’s candidacy is approved for participation in the summer school, then further processing of personal data, including storage, takes place in accordance with the project regulations and the Accounting Law. If the participant’s candidacy is not approved for participation in the summer school, then the personal data mentioned in the application will be stored for 30 days after the event, after which it will be deleted or destroyed depending on the type of personal data storage.

You have the right to request access to your personal data from the University and its correction or deletion, in the cases specified in the regulatory acts, to request restriction of processing or the right to object to processing, as well as the right to data portability. You can address issues regarding the processing of your personal data or about violations committed in the processing of your personal data by writing an application to the Data Protection Specialist of the University. If you are not satisfied with the answer you received, you have the right to file a complaint with the Data State Inspectorate.

Your personal data is used only for the data processing purposes specified. You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time without adverse consequences by sending a notification to the e-mail address turiba@turiba.lv. Withdrawal of consent will not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent prior to withdrawal.
